Tanzania: Panasonic Banks On New Smart Devices

Panasonic Corporation is betting on 12 of its new smart gadgets to drive its sales in the Middle East and Africa Region.

 
The gadgets have been deliberately designed to improve the way Panasonic's business partners conduct their daily undertakings, the Panasonic Marketing Middle East and Africa (PMMAF) Managing Director, Mr Shinichi Wakita, said at the just ended- Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (Gitex) in Dubai.
 
The products, which are already in the market in some parts of Europe, Asia and America will be available in Africa starting next year.
 
"We hope to launch the same in the PMMAF region next year," he said noting that in Africa, it will be first launched in South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria before coming to East Africa, starting with Kenya.
 
The 12 products smart gadgets include: an Interactive mirror, Light ID, Data Archiver, Video Intercom, Pool Mapping, Smart Downlight, Interactive Floor System, Space Player, 4K Projector, a High Definition Visual Communication system. The list also includes a private branch exchange (telephone switching system within an enterprise) that switches calls between voice over Internet Protocol (IP-PBX) and a Video Intercom.
 
Each of these smart gadgets offers solutions that seek to enhance businesses and personal health.
 
Interactive Mirror:
 
"With an Interactive Mirror, we seek to enhance lifestyle as a new professional health and beauty advisor... it is a perfect solution for ladies' and men' salon," the PMMAF general manager for Business to Business (B2B) & Project Business Mr Noriyuki Hayashi, told journalist at the Dubai World Trade Centre on sidelines of the Gitex event.
 
The Mirror makes use of in-built high definition cameras which enable it (the mirror) to analyze one's face by pointing out every flaw and make suggestions - through words that automatically appear on the mirror - on how to fix them (the flaws). It proposes the right makeup as well as the right type of cosmetics for one to use. The Interactive Mirror, which operates with two types of remote controls, will also propose the type of food that one must eat in order to correct the detected flaws in your skin as well as how long one is required to sleep.
 
Data Archiver:
 
The Data Archiver uses Panasonic's robotics technology to archive as much as 91.2 terabits of data allowing up to six expansion modules to store well over 638.4 terabits of data. The system is expected to meet the needs of the next generation businesses as well as governments with its ability to store data for a period of over 50 years.
 
Video Intercom:
 
With Panasonic's new Video Intercom System, one is assured of connecting up to three lobby stations, spanning a total of 560 rooms through a single block.
 
At a time when security is of great concern to businesses especially in condominiums and residential communities, Panasonic's Video Intercom will enhance security around the area. To keep tab of visitors, the device takes a snap-shot of the person each time the door bell is pressed and stores it for future reference. Its compatibility with mobile phone or tablets gives flexibility of answering and opening the door from anywhere within the apartment premises.
 
Interactive Floor System:
 
Targeting the retail and hospitality industry, Panasonic's interactive floor system can generate interest for visitors in shopping malls, retails stores, kids area in hotels/schools or theme parks.
 
With its 85 inches display, it helps in drawing people's attention.
 
It does so by promoting physical motion, teamwork, communication and creativity.
